Step 2  Presentation  (12’)

1  A video about Kobe

First, let’s watch a video. Please watch carefully and later you have to tell me who he is in the video.

Play a video.

2  Talk about sports stars.

T:  Who is that? Do you know?

Ss:  ….

T:  Yes, he is Kobe. He is a great

    international sports star.

Read out other sports star together and tell me who they are.

Do you know other international sports stars?

T:  Good, now open your books, and turn to P. 53. Look at 1a. Make a list of international sports stars you know.

 The class write down the international sports stars they know .

Then, get some students to say the international sports stars they know.

3  Pattern drill in “be born”

Show some pictures of international sports starts and get the class to talk about them.

B: That’s …. He is a great basketball player.

Read after XXX the drills together.

While learning, play some guessing game to arouse the class’s interests. Such as guessing the years when the sports stars were born.

2  Talk about Top10 in groups.

Now, I have so many Top10 people. Please talk about your Top 10 by yourselves.

3  Write about Top 10. 

First, everybody of you write something about your Top 10. Then you can share your writing with your group mates and choose the best one.

The teacher moves around the room, offering help when necessary.

 

4  Show time

Now, it’s our show time.

You just come to the front and introduce your Top10. Others must listen carefully, as I will ask you some questions to see if you listen carefully or not. After that, you’ll put up your article on the blackboard. We will have a Top 10 Gallery later.

 

Step 6  Homework  (1’)

1  Copy your “Top 10” in the exercise-book.

2  Preview Section A  2a---2c on P.54.

个人认为本堂课教学目标达成，学生学习积极主动，热情投入，课堂氛围非常热烈。就其成功原因主要在于通过集体备课，这课堂紧紧围绕教学目标be born的用法，创设情境并结合学生的实际，由浅入深展开多种形式的教学活动，其中许多活动与学生实际运用语言的形式一致，学以致用，收效很好。
